Fund Raising
Why not hold a quarterly (semi-annual?) plant, seed, and bulb sale? I think
there are enough people in our group who like to propagate plants and save
seeds and offsets that we could generate plenty of material for a great
sale. Of course, we would have to have a "members only" preview sale so we
could have first crack at the good stuff! We'd have to find a suitable
venue and some way to advertise, but I think there's enough interest in the
Bay Area alone that a "Mediterranean Garden Society Plant Sale" could be a
great fund raiser, as well as helping to raise awareness of and interest in
our group. It would also help us to thin out some of our overcrowded
plantings and alleviate some of the excess baggage most of us are carrying
in our gardens. On the other hand, I'm also partial to those chocolate
candy bars that kids sell to raise money for their soccer teams...
