How true to seed?

How true to seed is "true to seed?" I started an avocado pit from my
favorite kind of avocado a few years back. The tree is now a very healthy
3.5 feet tall and the structure looks much like the parent which has the
unusual characteristic of being low growing and wide as opposed to tall. I
know that there is only about a 30% chance that the new plant will be "true
to seed," but what does that really mean? If the structure is true to the
parental plant, will the fruit be as well?

Thanks for your help!

Nan
