I don't know, who the mentioned Menzies was, but I presume strongly, that
Archibald Menzies gave his name to these plants. Sure is Pseudotsuga
menziesii named after him.
Archibald Menzies journeyed as surgeon on Captain George Vancouver's
expedition to the Pacific Northwest (1790 - 1795). Menzies collected as botanist
some dried herbarium material.
