This autumn I was given some seeds of Paeonia mascula by my local Botanic garden. They were beautiful large black buttons and germinated really well (50%) even though (or perhaps because?) I
had the seeds in my jacket pocket for about a month! However, I failed to take into account one variable which may be prevalent in some of your gardens too - I'm afraid the dogs decided to
play with the seed box which I thought I'd tucked well out of their reach, so I'll have to try again next year.
The P. mascula parent is a beautiful sight in spring, too
