Re: Dividing Dierama pulcherimum

I seem to have a problem in not knowing how to divide
and replant Dierama in the garden. It seems that I
always end up with weak, poorly growing divisions when
trying to improve the looks of mature 3~4 year old
clumps of this plant. At this age, they tend to form
dead patches in the center, and stop flowering as
vigorously. I've tried replanting divisions with most
roots intact, and also as cleaned up younger corms
replanted, and neither method seems to suit their
rapid regrowth. I find I've had better luck with
digging old clumps out and replacing with new plants.
Possibly my timing is all wrong, or they just resent
transplanting? Any one have good experiences with
this?
