Re: Hardy 'pretty' flowers/Kangaroo Paw?

I don't know about the acidic soil , but possibilities that come to mind
are:

Byrsonima lucida, Locustberry; pink-yellow fls - red fruit
Xeronema calistemon, poor knight's lily; red flowers
Pancratium maritimum, Sea Daffodil, Sea Lily, Lys de Mer; - white
flowers
Borrichia frutescens, Sea Oxeye Daisy; yellow flowers....

Hi
My suggestion would be any of the brilliantly-flowering succulents of
the iceplant group such as Lamparanthus and its relatives. Here in NZ,
with extremely windy coastal sites, these flourish and we even have one
native one (Disphyma australe) and one South Africa import (Carpobrotus
edulis, sometimes sknown as the Hottentot Fig) which grow right on the
beach either on sand dunes or scrambling over rocks.

Though they bloom only at one season, the best are of most dazzling
brilliance during their flowering time and would certainly to my eye
qualify as "pretty" enough to brighten up any garden.
