Tree books

Here in Sacramento, CA the two I've found most useful are:

Capitol Park Trees, a user's guide by Schuster and Peterson
published in 1982 by Peterson, don't know if it was ever reprinted.

Introduced trees of Central California by Woodbridge Metcalf
UCPress 1968. I think you can still buy this new.

Both are findable using the abebooks.com search engine.

Would also like to put in a plug for A Natural History of Western Trees by Donald Peattie,
in which the illustrations by Paul Landacre are alone worth the price of admission, but it won't
help much when walking around in most of the towns in California.

Yours most respectfully,
Michael Larmer
