Subject: dahlia imperialis,etc.
I have two dahlia imperialis plants grown from seed this year,
both single stem 12 feet +, blooming profusely for the past month or so. Now
what ? Just lop them off when they're through flowering , like more mundane
perennials ? For that matter, what about the equally large montanoa
grandiflora ? I'm on the flats in Richmond, where the wind can be rough
on the tall stuff. Thanx.

Dear Steve,
I live not far from you
and also grow Dahlia imperialis. I cut mine back to the base every year after
they are done flowering. I assume you would do the same for
Montanoa.
