MOst species roses have hips, some of them big
(multibracteata) and tiny (my favorite of all roses, mulliganii). They require
no help once they are growing well. Some take up a lot of room so they should be
given a lot of room. I collect hips inthe autumn and put them in the freezer.
Then I plant them in the spring. I have a lot of seedlings! I give the plants to
others so they can have hips. They thrive in poor soil but I have learned they
need sun. I grow about 75. bill grant
