Re: Dioscoria Bulbiforma - withering bulb

A few months ago I acquired a healthy looking Dioscoria Bulbiforma speciman.
Over the last few weeks the bulbous caudex, if it can be
referred to as such, began to shrivel. In an attempt to improve the plants
appearent ill condition, I provided less water, then more water, and
finally moved it to from direct light to a shaded area of the greenhouse and
back to a more moderate watering schedule. The plant's foliage
has retained a healthy appearence under all conditions, but the bulb continues
  to wither.

I recently noticed that the vines produced by the withering bulb are producing
multipal baby bulbs at the nodes where a small leaflets have
sprouted. I am very pleased to see that it appears it will be possible to
multiply this interesting plant many fold.

Does anyone have experience with this plant?

Is the condition of the bulb normal?

How do I assist the newly forming bulbs to maturity?

Are there other locations that are more likely to be familiar with this plant?

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appriciated.

 Thank you
