Hi, Carol.
>The correct plant name is Rhagodia spinescens deltophylla.
You asked for more information from Australians. While I am not an Australian,
I have seen several in movies, so I hope that will do...
I recently picked up an outstanding book called The Australian Gardener's
Wildflower Catalogue, by Denise Greig. It's a large softcover book, roughly
300 pages, covering about five species to a page, with color photos of most
species. For some reason it was heavily discounted at the Berkeley Botanical
Garden (they have an outstanding selection of books crammed into a very tiny
space).
Anyway, the book is one of my favorites because it lists so many Australian
plants. For example, it says that the common name for your Rhagodia is Thorny
Saltbush. It will take full sun or light shade, is salt-tolerant,
drought-resistant, and frost-tolerant. "It will grow in most soils in a sunny
location." They suggest using it as a ground cover or an edging plant in a
rockery. I'm sory to add that the flowers are "insignificant."
Hope this helps.
Mike
