arctostaphylos cuttings

I've only tried a few species of manzanitas, but I've had pretty good 
luck rooting small cuttings in late winter/early spring, with Rootone and 
bottom heat.  It wouldn't hurt to try cuttings now, and every month  or 
so until spring.  Certainly faster than from seed.
