We're leaving California for Spain in a week, exchanging one
Mediterranean climate for another.
Does anyone have recommendations for gardens, parks or other
horticultural sights to see in the Costa del Sol or Madrid or Gibraltar?
Of course it's wonderful to see flowers spilling from balconies but I
don't think we can expect too much of that in the winter. However, I've
just finished a semester-long course in tree identification, so I feel
particularly motivated to see trees that are native to the Mediterranean
area.
I'd also like to visit some nurseries in Spain, but I think the
agricultural inspectors would frown at us (or worse!) if we brought
anything back to California.
We'd be happy just to talk with any jardineros out there who share our
interests!
Thanks in advance for your responses.

PS Thanks so much to all of you who took the time to offer suggestions
for my female Actinidias. I'm going to plant them before we leave for
Spain. : )
