We don't come from South Africa, but used to live in Kenya, East Africa,
and knew there the plant you name.

Yes, the common So. African name for it is Kaffir Lily, and, yes, these
days the word "Kaffir" is regarded as derogatory by many people. We do
not know of any other common name for the plant - what's wrong with just
calling it "Clivia"? It is not a "difficult" or unpronounceable name!
