Man-go, Men-go, or Mon-go?

Here in the Caribbean and also in India, where the mango is the apple of 
everyone's eye, the laugh would be on both - save the locals are much too 
polite to notice or remark - as the pronunciation of the first syllable 
of mango is exactly as the first syllable of Monterey or of manana which 
latter, of course, should have a tilde over the first 'n' but which 
diacritical mark most non-Spanish mailreaders mangle.
