Re: Palms

By the way, has anyone else ever seen the phenomenal avenue of palms that
starts on Main Street in "downtown" Chowchilla, Ca., near Highway 99, and
extends westward for seven miles or so out into the countryside? Alternating
Mexican fan palms and California fan palms, with some Canary Island date palms
included, at least in town. I don't know that there's another to match it
anywhere. While on the subject of the much-maligned Canary Island date palm,
I have to say that a pair of these old trees flanking the drive or front walk
of a Victorian farm house is the very picture of California agrarian
nostalgia, and I, for one, would be sad to see them disappear from our
landscape.
