Redwoods: Range

It's true that the *natural* range of redwoods extends only up into S.
Oregon, but they can be grown well beyond it. There are lots of them in
Seattle. The reason they don't seed here is because the trees are
dependent on fog for their well-being. An established tree can survive
the dry few months we get here in summer but the seedlings can't; they
need that fog to survive the summer. Each spring one finds hundreds of
seedlings under redwoods but by mid summer they have all died out.
