Re: LA aboretums


I would add the South Coast Arboretum in the Palos Verdes area.  It was
quite new when I visited about 4-5 years ago, but lots of potiential.
AFTER the Huntington, I think the Rancho Santa Ana [Claremont] is perhaps
the most interesting.  It's devoted entirely to Califronia plants, and
includes both formal plantings and a huge arboretum.  I visited the first
week of April last year, in high bloom for ceanothus, arctosptaphylos,
redbud, fremontodendron, and a huge list of other Cal. woodies.
