If I were visiting your garden I would recognise as "local" a patch
featuring a clump of holm oaks, Q. ilex, interspersed with Q. coccifera,
and Q. faginea. Other trees would be the odd strawberry tree (Arbutus
unedo), a scattering of Pistacia terebinthus (amazing Autumn colour) and
maybe some wild olives or almonds. Junipers, specially J. oxycedrus, J.
communis and J. sabina, should also feature somewhere. Scattered here
and there under the shade of the trees would be clumps of Daphne
gnidium. In the clearings I would expect to see lots of cistus,
specially C. ladaniferus, C. albidus and great stands of C.
monspeliensis. The sunny areas away from the trees would be covered in
Lavandula stoechas, wild rosemary and yellow and white broom, lots of
broom... Cytisus, Genista, Retama.
What fun!
