In this wonderful coastal area, where we can have killing frosts every 10
years, but where El Nino and La Nina have changed the rain patterns to such
an extent that our usual drought conditions are at least temporarily
shelved - these are the plants you would see in my garden:
Many species roses (some are from the Mediterranean - people forget that),
old roses, and climbing roses (some are from the Riviera). Lots of vines,
some from the Med zones. 64 different grevillea species (a good number from
Western Australia, another Med zone), correas, grasses, madrone, oaks, and
far too many eucalypts (some of which show the Red Gum Psyllid
problem). There are also perennials, hostas, ferns, hellebores, etc.
No lawns. No spraying of any kind. Drip irrigation. Organic fertilizer.
Oddball plants constantly added for interest. bill grant
