San Marcos Growers lists Puya alpestris (blue green flowers on a smaller
plant than P. berteroniana), so you can have your local nursery order it
from them (they are wholesale only). Charles Dills (a member of this
group) lists several species on his web pages:

He might be willing to trade/sell a few plants (he's in San Luis Obispo).
I find various Puyas in garden locally, often people are more than happy
to share. Unfortunately, many Puyas are quite spiny - even downright
sinister in their spininess! There are several large Puyas at a local
garden which was being bull-dozed last year. We thought about a
'rescue' and there was even permission to do so. The plants were large
and quite striking, and would have been spectacular in flower. But they
might have been the death of us if we tried to even take a division!
Yikes! Stick to the smaller forms unless you have lots of space and
are a fan of pain.
