What a very interesting and instructive account of the way you have
successfully solved the problems of two such different sites actually
adjacent to one another, Your garden would surely be a fascinating place
to visit, sorry I can't actually do so!
You have obviously met the challenge of the dry slope in a very
effective way, combining provision of good growing for your plants with
a minimum of general disturbance. I am sure the objections that making
planting holes the way you have done will create water-sinks are largely
based on sites where drainage is not nearly as good. Certainly you seem
to have proved effectively they do not apply to this bank.
As to your woodland garden, any no-till enthusiast would heartily
endorse your method, and your success confirms it suitabilty. Isn't it
satisfying to get such marvellous results for a minimum of effort?
Best wishes
Moira
