Dana,
There used to be a product in the nurseries called Tree Seal. It was a black tar-like substance and it came
in a green can (like a paint can).  That was very effective for painting on the inside of terra cotta pots
in order to seal them.

However, since new research on tree wounds has revealed that this product only inhibits wounds from healing,
I'm wondering if you can find it anymore. The last time I saw it, was in the nursery section of Orchards
Supply; OSH.
