I don't believe there's an alternative botanical name but there are various
'popular' names. In the UK, at least, they include 'Welsh leek,' 'three
cornered leek,' etc etc.
The deceptiveness of this critter lies (a) in its genuine prettiness, (b)
its apparent fragility. No doubt we can all think of other examples of a
similar combination of nice'n'nasty - and not just in plants...!
