Re David's comments on I. sceptrum and the lesser-known other Isoplexis spp:
I suspect the problem generally is simply getting hold of plants/seeds. I've
never managed to get myself into a position even to try Ii. chalcantha and
isabelliana.
In the north and west of the UK - as distinct from the far south and west,
as at Tresco -, I've found I. sceptrum much less willing to flower freely
than I. canariensis (some years, unwilling to flower at all) and, though it
survives most winters here, it seems perhaps a touch more finicky in its
requirements/a touch more susceptible to the combination of rather too much
wet and a little too much cold.
