KK,
I believe your iridaceous flower is Aristea ecklonii, a South African
native. It seeds around profusely, and it can easily crowd out practically
any other plant. I consider it a pernicious weed, but since its blossoms
are the most heavenly blue, I keep a couple of clumps of it around--in a
narrow bed between a wall and a driveway, where it can't get our of hand.
(Your photo shows the flowers purplish, but I presume that is a color
distortion attributable to the photographic process).
