I would think you could put both outdoors where you would like them, but
make sure the soil is well drained in both cases.  The nerines don't need as
much water in the summer as the Kniphofia likes.  When we lived in the high
elevations of New Mexico, the Kniphofia did fine even though temps got
considerably below freezing for weeks on end, so I wouldn't be too worried.
The only reason to put the nerines in a pot would be so that you could move
them to different sites when in bloom
