I have little trouble with storing seed in snap-top or screw-top vials
because I thoroughly dry the seed. I do not make a practice of moving seed
between inside and outside of a refrigerator, though I would prefer to keep
them inside at a constant 40 degrees and low humidity. With no other
sources of moisture in a refrigerator, the seeds will continue to dry out.
To store the 1/2 and 1 dram vials, I took a 1 x 2.5 foot piece of 1/2 inch
plywood and drilled a matrix of rows and columns of holes, then fitted a
solid lower piece of plywood longer on each end by 3/4 inch so I could slide
them into slotted rails. When I need some seed from a shelf, I pull it out
and set it on my desk to work on seeds.
