just love the pictures of your aloes and your creative use of them.  It's interesting they do so well in your climate as many, if not most South African aloes are from summer rainfall areas in the eastern Cape and the Highveld.  I think my favourite one is A. plicatilis which I have in my beach garden in South Australia; flowers early in its life and has such a strong 'sculptural' form.  Plus of course incredibly tough!

There is a South African company which has hybridised aloes for the commercial market, and they appear to be more floriferous and adaptable than the species.  At present I think they are only marketed,  outside South Africa,  in Australia and New Zealand.

Maybe this might generate some conversation?  A link to photos I've got on my Flickr site of various aloes in private client gardens as well as at the UC Berkeley Botanic Garden over the years.  I've got Aloe castanea in full bloom on my balcony, and probably a half dozen others in the garden as well.  What are some of your favorite blooming aloes?
