I started a tropical hibiscus mail list in 1996 -- ran it initially on freeware on a Mac on a dial-up line. Moved to Yahoo groups in 2001 because some ISPs barred e-mail for some odd reasons. In message quantity, the mail list hit its peak in Nov. 2010 with 2250 messages, and this past November, the message count was 4. In December of 2016, volume rose to 17 messages. I lay most of the blame on Facebook.

Seems to me that it's a list-killer if it's not automatically reply-to-all.
