Hello,
My request is not the usual paean to plants, though I certainly
appreciate the world of flora as much as any. I've been working every
Saturday on landscaping crew at my Church in Sunnyvale California
in preparation for opening our new sanctuary.
Would appreciate suggestions on good local nursery stock sources.
Our budget is severely limited and we're trying to get donated plants,
but since the project requires mass plantings, this is not always
practical.
A horticulturist drew up the plans and we need trees, shrubs,
and ground covers as basic bones in the landscape.
We are looking for good sources of these, specific plants include:
Trees:Red maples, purple plums or flowering cherries, japanese maples
Shrubs: Camellias, sasquana Clara; Escallonias; Dwarf manzanitas
Kininick; Evergreen Lilies (Dietes? or Fortnight Lilies)
Ground cover: Star jasmine; periwinkle or ?
Other plantings: Agapanthus; Specimens that are carefree, hardy,
drought-resistant.
Any suggestions for alternative plants are welcome as well as nursery
suggestions. Prefer local growers to hardiness and appropriate to area.
We're filling land w/ free compost from city and grading and will be
planting in 3 weeks (Mid-March 1997). Thanking you in advance & God bless
you all!
