Feijoa sellowiana & more...

My impression now is that depending on where you live the feijoa can be
slow, speedy or fast. Ive heard of several varieties that are vigorous
growers ( though it seems the ones i have ( i bought two si id be
assured of fruit) are moderate growers as the newest growth on them is
about a foot long. To me its alright if they thin out and look a bit
rangy...im just interested in something to block the neighbors view of
our backyard and provide fruit as well as a windbreak. I actually like
plants that arent nice neat and trimmed. The backyard is plenty large
enough for them as its 70 feet wide by 100 feet long.
Um also planning on purchasing a Bambusa oldhamii as it wont run into
the percolation pond (thats how my city replenishes its aquifers. The
percolation pond behind my house is deep ugly and full of ugly weedy
Ice plant) and its a nice tall plant. I cant have any tall tres back
there because i dont want them falling onto the house :). When the
bamboos culms mature, I can use them for a myriad things.

I also saw some nice fruitless Olea eurpaeas in Orchard Supply Hardware
the other day....would be perfect for bonsai :)
