"Geraniums"

Dear Beverley,
Sorry for the delay in answering your message.   Great to hear from someone
who is almost a neighbour!   Strange to think that your message has been
around the world and back to Perth,  in fact my message was sent from UWA
so that’s even closer  to you.
Yes I am in the W.A. Geranium & Pelargonium Society.  Monthly meetings are
held at McNess Hall Pier St Perth,  1st Monday in each month, 9.30am.
Annual fee is $6 .  We have an annual show in October (Wanneroo) which is
also the state championships. Plants are also for sale there.
>From April to November we have a ‘showette’ at each meeting.  There are 3
levels, Novice, Intermediate and Open. For those who wish to participate.
Each section has  1st , 2nd & 3rd prizes for  bloom and plant.  So you
would get to see quite a variety.   Plants are also for sale at each meeting.
Yes I get the ‘geranium’/Pelargonium thing, our President is very fussy
about it.  I’m afraid I still call Zonals ‘geraniums’.     When writing
I’m careful to put it in inverted comas and with a small g though!
Last year I did a few country shows with two friends. We sold hundreds of
plants.  Don’t think Ill be doing it this year as I’m trying to cut down,
due to back problems. Looks like I may be headed for surgery at the moment.
I Joined the  Society intending to get a just few more plants,  however I
have become ‘hooked’ as there are so many lovely ones. 
I am also in a ‘geranium/Geranium discussion group, based in US.  Trouble
is their climate in the northern states is very different to ours.  never-
the- less  I find it most enjoyable.
In Oct 1996  ten of us went over east the International  Conference, where
we saw lots more newly released varieties which we just HAD to have!.
