Dave,
Bunch of common names:
palmgrass; short pitpit; hailans pitpit; broadleaved bristlegrass
supposedly a native of India, any other offers?
is quite weedy in warmer climes but would probably do nicely
in pots in warm locations in the UK and Europe...
Considering its a weed of crops it would be a fairly greedy plant
nutrition wise, but then so are most of the warm climate grasses.
I agree it is a quite attractive plant with its broad leaves and striking
ribs.
