Hi Jane,
I guess I'm the closest to you, as I live in Upland, quite near Rancho Santa
Ana Botanic Garden.
My Petrea volubilis grows on the south facing front of my house, but because
of the angle of the garage does not get sun until about mid-day. That was
before it reached the top of the trellis and splayed out on the roof. Now it
gets alot of sun and heat in the summer. The hotter it gets, the happier the
petrea. It is heavily blooming now, but will continue with sparcer blooms
throughout the year.
Since it is planted with the climbing rose, Marechal Neil, it gets watered
about once a week during the summer. When they bloom together, apricot-yellow
with the petrea's vivid blue, it is quite a sight.
It only gets fertilized twice a year with Bio-Grow, an organic fertilizer
based on fish meal and sea-weed. No pests, no problems!
Regards, Jan
