Actually what i heard is rancheros would cut tall stalks off from the main
plant, stick them in the ground, and space them close together. =).
Ocotillo is a nice plant in flower and out. They look something like spiny
sticks in the ground when they arent in flower. An interesting site
indeed. I saw a few in Arizona a few years back
