Late bloomers

Enough people have stated that many shrubs/perennials are blooming late this year. May I ask a question? Usually the rampant acacias in Santa Cruz County start blooming in December. My camellias about the same time. Clematis armandii right after Christmas All of them are just beginning to open and bloom. Why? bill grant
