Snails/Slugs: Beer and More

>From my research, it is the yeast in beer that attracts the snails and
slugs. Thus, some people mix yeast in water, adding a little sugar.
Similarly, earwigs are sometimes attracted to shallow, small bowls set
below ground level that contain soy sauce and water mixtures.

I just received a new product by the company that makes the Concern line of
products (including corn meal gluten premergent weed control). This product
is called Slug Stop and it is a gel-like consistency made from coconut soap
that comes in a squeeze tube (much like caulk). I'm just testing it now,
but it seems to be effective. What's most promising is that it's
effectiveness is not lessened by water. In the past I've used sawdust and
diatamecous earth rings around beds and favorite plants. These worked until
it rained or I watered.

I shall let the group know how well it works. FYI, the company is
