A person to contact about banksia might be Jeff Rosendale of Sierra Azul
Nursery near Watsonville, California. He was interested in growing them (as a
hobby?) some years ago. Not sure that he sells them commercially. Sierra Azul
is on Highway 152 going out of Watsonville toward Mount Madonna. It's on the
flat (right-hand side) just before the road starts going up the mountain. The
nursery has a wonderful demonstration garden and plants for sale, so it's worth
a visit even if banksia don't interest you.
