Re: Clematis "Betty Corning"

re: Clematis BETTY CORNING,

Couldn't agree more; it is a lovely flower and a good plant. I
imported mine from the UK 3 years ago and it is now getting well
established after sulking out of quarantine gassing and all that
awful stuff they do to plants here. Growth has been vigorous tho'
light and not tall - about 3m so far. I pruned it heavily last year,
almost to the ground and it shot away with a dozen or more good
leads this spring. The first flush of blooms was strong and there
have been occasional blooms since then. And the colour really lifts
a scene - a fine light blue with just a hint of lavender about it.
'Pagoda' shaped flowers with crsip waving along the edges and a
seer-sucker texture all over the petal surfaces. Couldn't say I
noticed the perfume but I had hayfever from October 'til December.
