In some climates, this plant is being watched for potential weediness (as
noted on the page you mentioned). In Australia's more tropical climes,
away from its native range, it has been observed to invade. In our local
mediterranean climate, there is no observation that it will invade our
wildlands either via seed or vegetative growth. It is a big grower, but
then Wisterias are big growers also! Good to be careful, but I do not
think you need to fear this one. If you'd like to see a well established
specimen of this vine, go to the French-American School in Berkeley, at the
intersection of 9th and Heinz (near Magic Gardens) - it is on the fence on
Heinz, just east of 9th St. Judge for yourself. It has been there for
many years. It once climbed into a large Black Acacia which was removed a
couple of years ago - that is about a 'unruly' as this vine ever got.

Sean O.
