We frequently find deep purple droppings from the birds containing the
seeds of Algerian Ivy here. our neighbors when they moved in recently cut
it down to the ground (the previous owners planted it and let it run wild.
It literally starved an old holly they had in the same place of so much
light that the remaining portion was barely alive) . The guys who removed
it had to come over to our side of the fence to clear it out as it had
literally grown through the fence (a branch gre through a gap in the fence
board, and over the years expanded out to an inch and a half thick). I did
notice it is easily killed by roundup, but the thick roots are a devil to
get out of the ground. The side yard I am cleaning up has so many roots
that are up to 2 inches thick running through the bed.
