what is it you try to recreate?
mediterranean woodland? garden?
I have just thought that tipuana tipu grows very fast and
creates a high canopy, with a fetching rain or small yellow flowers in early
summer, it is planted all over barcelona as a street tree and stands the drought
and heat, also it doesnīt seem to lift pavements.
to me it has a municipal look.
in your area some prosopis should grow tall.
you put a very good question, I canīt think of a canopy tree
that I can say is unmistakeably mediterranean short of the three staples here
such as quercus ilex, ceratonia siliqua and p dactilifera but the first two do
pose a danger if planted close to a building.
