There are several P. undulatum trees in the Roof Garden here
in Oakland and all survived the 1990 freeze with just some twig damage.
These were then 30 years in the garden. They are lovely trees but are also
one of my major weed headaches. They seed themselves about prolifically in this
garden.
We froze and stayed well below freezing for several days in a row,
blowing out in the process (ultimately a blessing)the old hydraulic
irrigation system. When the valves blew water was thrown all over
and I came in that morning to a shocking wonderland of icecicles
everwhere,and plants completely encased in ice. What a sight! Of course
when it all melted many,many plants were mush, and we had no functional
irrigation system...
