Mark, that site is too cooool! Everyone take a look at that. Folks
from all over the country enter their weather data onto the site so
you can find folks near you and find out what the REAL weather is/has
been instead of what the TV/Radio folks tell you.
Well, depending on what you consider "real." The best they can give me is
Oakland, CA. Sure, I live in Oakland, but the official sites for it are
usually next to the water. I'm inland and there is so much difference
between coastal Oakland and inland Oakland that the zones are different!
(I'm in Sunset 16, not the coastal 17).
I did sign up for the alerts and I'll see how useful they are for me.
There's a college near me with a weather station that I use for accurate
numbers. No forecasts, just the current temps and wind (with this days
highs and lows). You can find the station nearest you by going to
http://www.aws.com/ but it takes a while to track it down so bookmark your
result (click on WeatherNet...they also have instructions for becoming a
weather station). For Merrit College in Oakland, go to
http://www.aws.com/kpix/wx.asp?ID=mccal (it's not loading atm but usually
works fine; kpix appears to be down).
