Dear listers:

I apologize if this is not an appropriate use of the list, but I am seeking professional help with my garden and find my local directory somewhat lacking in options.  I am looking for a garden/landscape designer in my area (Davis, CA) or someone willing to come to my area.  I have a very modest project for a very uninspired site.  We live in a 70's tract home in Davis.  We have an ugly old thirsty lawn with a large Ash tree (belongs to the city and is not so beautiful but gives us much needed shade here in the hot Central Valley summers).  There is a concrete path that makes a B-line from the sidewalk to the front door and is adjacent on one side to the garage making it impossible to cover the large, blank stucco wall with plantings (need I say more).

If you know anyone, perhaps even a student who would be interested in drawing some plans for us (we want to do as much of the labor ourselves), I would be most grateful if you could send me a personal reply.  Obviously, medit and drought-tolerant plants are what we envision.

Also, if there are guidelines for appropriate postings to this list, please direct me to them.
