Hi Chevrel, I only know a rose grower and don't know any source for tulipa and enkianthus. You can see his site on internet at : http://www.rosesguillot.com or write to : guillot@rosesguillot.com. a friend of mine had to build a medieval garden last year at her college where she is a teacher and she bought roses to him I can remember she ordered 2 damask roses : 'Ispahan' and 'Mme Hardy' This grower is working with California, he ship a lot to the Brooklyn botanical garden where you can see his roses. This is an old family business and they hybridise since a long time. I hope you'll find your plants. Enjoy your garden creation Chantal Ermenonville, France, zone 7 ---------- From: "egpeyzaj" <egpeyzaj@domi.net.tr> To: "medit-plants" <medit-plants@ucdavis.edu> Subject: search Date: Fri, 19 Jan 2001 21:17:44 +0200 I wonder if anyone reading this list might be able to help me find sources for the following items for a remaking of an historic garden, and for which I have so far drawn a complete blank: (internet sites to try, someone you know... etc) I am thinking that transport would be air freight. For this specialist garden in Istanbul I am in need of the following items: 100 Damask roses (bush) (I will accept a substitute but it should be one of the original varieties which might have been grown here in Constantinople during the Ottoman period - & it must be scented) 1000 Tulipa turkestanica 30 Enkianthus (not essential, simply on the wish list!) The intention of this garden is that it should be planted in the spirit of the Ottoman garden. The house has been built completely of oak in the original style and the garden will reflect the character by containing both native and imported plants which would have been available at that time (15th century onwards). In anticipation, thank you. Chevrel. |
