All:
It could be I've muddied the waters.
According to the Sunset Western Garden Book, Paulownia
is known as the "Empress Tree" as Joan says.
According to Index of Garden Plants, "Princess Tree"
belongs to Paulownia.
According to Hortus Third, "Princess Tree" is the
common name for Paulownia and "Princess Flower" is the
common name for Tibouchina u.
Now that I think about, I do remember the name
"Empress Tree" as a more common comon name for
Paulownia.
Also, now that I think about it, I don't remember ever
seeing any Tibouchinas on a scale that one would truly
call a "Tree". Even the biggest that I've seen, the
HUGE bushes at the Mildred Mathias Botanical Garden,
were just that: huge BUSHES.
I suppose the question is, and I don't remember seeing
a response to all this from the originator of this
query, what ARE we asking about here?
