California Horticultural Society Seed Exchange List

Just thought I'd mention that the Cal Hort Society has
just published their annual seed list for
members,(went out in the January Newsletter) and last
year's list for 2001 is still on line, 2002 list
should be online shortly. Many plants have photos,
and represent the great range of plants being grown in
northern California's mediterranean climate. Anyone
can become a member, (info at the web site), and thus
be eligible for seed exchange.

Even if you aren't interested in the seed exchange, it
is a great reference site for what is being grown here
in northern California, and has new photos each month
of the most recent member's plants brought in for
plant display. The site is www.calhortsociety.org.
We do have some foreign members, and several local
botanic gardens also contribute to the seed exchange
each year.

For locals, January's talk will be by Frank Almeda, on
Plants from Brazil and in particular, Melastomes.
This incorporates two of my favorite subjects, and
will reflect Dr. Almeda's research and new plant
discoveries.

Happy gardening in 2002!
