I forgot to mention that bulbs need a chill period -- the references say
12 weeks for most kinds, but in my experience it's probably more like 9 --
so if you think they won't be cool enough for long enough in your climate
if you plant them now, then you might want to put them in the fridge for a
couple of months before planting in, say, March (then they will bloom at
really odd times this first year, but your garden wall be a conversation
starter... :-).
